I am John Stillich, an Innisfil resident who believes that the progress of development for a new public transit service is not going well. I am concerned that the focus of development is apparently not to serve Innisfil residents best, but to keep costs to a minimum, which will mean a poorly-designed service that will deter transit ridership. Please view the June Letter document below (or download it), which explains what I think is going wrong.
In the Summer of 2025, the Transit Master Plan team presented to the public the results of a survey which asked a very few residents to choose their preferences for a new transit system, based on four Options presented. What is missing is any valid research done to determine what the potential ridership of a new transit system might actually be, since the Options were designed based on the "same level of investment". There is a high risk that Innisfil Town Council will choose an Option that fails to generate any significant new transit ridership.
Unless the TMP consultants undertake a new survey that can elicit random and valid information regarding potential transit ridership for a fixed route system supported by on-demand support services for rural areas, the entire TMP process will have been a waste of time and money.
